Happy Manufacturing Day from NIST
Join us in celebrating Manufacturing Day! This year’s theme, “See Yourself in Manufacturing,” invites students, parents, teachers, and job seekers to discover the many exciting careers in this industry. From cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence to creative roles in marketing and design, manufacturing offers something for everyone. Learn how NIST is helping to shape the future of manufacturing and why you should think about a career in this vibrant field!
Manufacturing Day was started because the way manufacturing was marketed was wrong. The manufacturing of old is not the manufacturing of today and tomorrow. Whatever you are excited about, they need it in manufacturing. What's cool about manufacturing is there is something for everyone. The best way to see yourself in what the future can be is to go there and visit.

Launched annually on the first Friday in October with events that continue throughout the month, MFG Day helps show the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, teachers and community leaders. MFG Day empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges so they can help their communities and future generations thrive.
MFG Day is an initiative of The Manufacturing Institute, with the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association as a founding partner. The Institute grows and supports the manufacturing industry’s skilled workers for the advancement of modern manufacturing. The Institute’s diverse initiatives support women, veterans, students and workers through skills training programs, community building and supporting the advancement of their career in manufacturing. As the workforce development and education partner of the National Association of Manufacturers, the Institute is a trusted adviser to manufacturers, equipping them with resources necessary to solve the industry’s toughest challenges.
All events should be registered on the Manufacturing Day website, no matter when they are scheduled. Please click here to register your event, or for more information.
Given the limitations with public gatherings and social distancing practices prompted by the current pandemic, it’s uncertain whether manufacturers will be hosting traditional on-site tours of their facilities on Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) this October. But as we have learned with so many other aspects of our lives, a virtual option awaits.
